In 1987, Jason Yates purchased the Yates Automotive station at 317 E. Braddock Street in Alexandria from his father, John. In 1997, Jason opened a second location in Kingstowne – Yates Express Lube. In 2005, looking out over the dilapidated site across from Yates Automotive, Jason had a vision of what Yates Corner could be.
After years of dreaming and planning, construction was completed in late 2013 and Yates Corner expanded to include Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap (named after Jason’s mother), Yates Dry Cleaning and Yates Corner 7-Eleven. The Yates family also expanded their footprint in Kingstowne at that same time, purchasing what is now Yates Kingstowne Car Wash & Convenience.
Most recently, in 2018, Jason expanded Yates Services, Inc. again with the purchase of Automotive Service Garage and Old Town Auto Body & Paint, just a few blocks from yates Corner on Fayette St. Old Town Body & Paint has since become Yates Collision.
Over the years, Jason has worked very hard to not only continue, but improve, the business he grew up in. Jason’s constant belief in superior customer service – by continuously investing in the best equipment and finding and keeping the best people to take care of our great customers – has put Yates businesses in the top ranks of small businesses in Northern Virginia.
Jason also believes in giving back to the community that has supported him throughout the years by sponsoring many local neighborhood events to Yates Automotive’s monthly Give Your Two Cents program.
